Pyranha Jed Freestyle Turq/White/Purple – Collection Only
The Jed isn’t like the others; it’s longer than its competitors, which allows for a more fluid distribution of volume and comparatively slicy ends for easier trick initiation.
Extra length also makes the Jed faster on a wave and smoother on end in a hole.
A unique ‘V-Chine’ in the hull at the stern frees up the back end for spins and edge transitions while surfing, and also adds to the dynamic speed on a wave.
Smooth transition of volume to the core of the boat produces some incredible pop in a hole and the deceptively smooth lines over all give an obscenely fast and aggressive ride on any wave.
Over the past few years Pyranha has seen some amazing displays of freestyle talent from paddlers using the Jed, ranging from competition wins to new and exciting combo moves, but what we’re most proud of is the doors that the Jed has opened to everyone in Freestyle; from the Pro looking to push the boundaries of the sport to the beginner looking to hit their first vertical ends.
The Jed is our best and most proven freestyle design, and it’s not done yet!
The best kayak that anyone has ever made!

I have not been this excited about a kayak since I received my first Burn back in 2006. In my opinion, this is the best kayak that anyone has ever made! It's so fast and easy to paddle; narrow so you can easily reach the water and have a really nice forward stroke, tons of bow rocker and a nice edge!
Love at first paddling!

Straightaway, I was totally overwhelmed by the speed and manoeuvrability of the 9R. I can't imagine anything better for the rivers out there at the moment!
The 9r doesn't compromise

It's fast, boofs well, holds a line, and is also super manoeuvrable! I'm not sure what else I could possibly want from a creek boat.
The 9r is my dream boat

Fast and amazingly fun to paddle I don't want to use anything else and I'm beyond stoked to own the best boat in the market right now! Thanks Pyranha, crushed it!!
The best kayak I have ever paddled!

I have been paddling this boat for around 6 weeks now. It performs perfectly in all aspects of whitewater kayaking from tight and technical to big volume and pushy. Its narrowness is the key to many of its pros. It allows for more control on edge making it super fun to get your lean on and believe it or not it makes it a lot more stable in big volume. Being narrow with a slender narrow tapering tail means of less surface area for compression features and boils to grab your edge and if a boil does get you the water has very little leverage to flip you. You have to try it!
This is a revolution people, it is like when Shane McConkey designed the first powder ski! Narrow, slim tapering tail and a lot of front rocker, get on board it is the future.

Don't be a whiner, buy a 9R
Reviewer: Aquabatics Calgary
The 9r perfectly represents the advancements in kayak technology. Designing a kayak has always been a balance of the performance features and their respective drawbacks (eg. more length = more tracking, but less turning. More rocker = better boofs, but less speed.) The guys at Pyranha proved that boat design isn't this cut and dry. By thinking outside the box, they have shaped a modern boat that nicely incorporates many of the features I look for, without sacrificing performance in any one of these categories. "Don't be a whiner, buy a 9r".

Pyranha 9R Race Kayak, River Runner or Both?
Who is this boat for? This is not a boat for the beginner market. This is an intermediate to advance paddler's boat. It is narrow which for the beginner may feel a little unstable and it is quick which will make rapids approach a bit too fast for some people. Someone who is competent and is looking at doing laps on their local class 4 run will love this boat.
If you like the forgiveness of a displacement hull creeker like the Pyranha Shiva but want the speed and directional stability of a planing hull boat like the Pyranha Burn then you will like this boat. Oh and of course all those who want to be competitive at the SCA Garry BoaterX next year better get one!! My feeling is this is a boat that will work well in many river environments so to answer my first question, it is both a Race Boat and River Runner and I think it will be my go to river running boat this winter.
