Comments Off on Samos Review
I have been lucky enough to have the use of a Samos over the winter period. And have managed to use it on both the flat and in some surf. (Up to about 3ft) so nothing too big. And I’m happy to say it’s one of the most fun boards I have used to date. In the surf it’s width helps no end with the stability. As its only a 10′ board coupled with rounded nose and slight rocker helps get the first turn in.The down side in the surf is the weight. It does take a little more effort to start moving from static. But once it starts gliding I feel the weight actually just helps the stability and keeps the momentum going. Especially if it a little lumpy. (As it often is on our British shores) all that said. I have had my 11 year old son on it and he doesn’t struggle with the weight.
Using the Samos on the flat it really comes into its own. As its so stable with the width. It make exploring coast and cruising around such an enjoyable experience. I have found that with a bit of lunch on your back. You can loose hours exploring with very little effort.
In my view (and at the risk of sounding like a sales pitch) it’s such good value for an all round family fun board. It’s actually the board I grab the most out of the ones I have. Oh and my weight is about 80kg (Last time I checked).
